Russia Accuses UK and France of Manipulating Nuclear Issue in Relation to Ukraine

Moscow, The Gulf Observer: Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has accused the United Kingdom and France of manipulating the issue of nuclear weapons in their engagement with Ukraine, claiming the matter goes beyond rhetoric.
Speaking to Sputnik Radio, Zakharova referred to a recent report by Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service, the SVR, which alleged that Britain and France were planning to provide Ukraine with a nuclear bomb.
“Britain and France are getting ready and have already been manipulating the topic of nuclear weapons in practice rather than rhetorically and flirting with the Kiev regime over it,” Zakharova said.
Her comments follow heightened tensions between Moscow and Western capitals over continued military assistance to Ukraine amid the ongoing conflict.
Zakharova also criticized Western media coverage, claiming that attention had been deliberately diverted from the allegations. According to her, international outlets shifted focus to viral coverage of a baby monkey at a Japanese zoo.
“Western media outlets did everything to refocus the whole world’s attention to an infant monkey at a Japanese zoo,” she stated.
The governments of the United Kingdom and France have not publicly responded to the specific allegations mentioned by the SVR report. No independent confirmation of the claims has been provided.
The remarks add to the growing war of words between Moscow and Western governments over security, military aid, and the broader geopolitical implications of the Ukraine conflict.
