President Ilham Aliyev Highlights Azerbaijan’s Experience in Rebuilding Cities and Villages from Scratch

Baku, The Gulf Observer: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, has said that Azerbaijan has developed a “unique experience” in constructing cities and villages from the ground up in the post-conflict reconstruction period.
In an interview with Euronews TV on May 18, the president said the large-scale reconstruction effort was necessitated by extensive destruction in previously occupied territories, which required comprehensive redevelopment planning and implementation.
“We have so far elaborated a unique experience in how to build cities and villages from scratch,” President Aliyev stated, noting that the process involved both phased and parallel development strategies to accelerate recovery and resettlement.
He further explained that the systematic approach to reconstruction has enabled the return of approximately 85,000 people within five years, describing it as a significant achievement in post-conflict rehabilitation and national recovery efforts.
President Aliyev emphasized that the rebuilding process was driven by necessity, given the scale of devastation, and highlighted the importance of coordinated development planning to restore infrastructure and livelihoods in the affected regions.
The remarks were made during an interview with Euronews TV, where the president also discussed broader reconstruction and resettlement initiatives underway in Azerbaijan.
