Dushanbe, The Gulf Observer: The International Forum “Women and Water–2026” will be held on May 25 as part of the side events of the Fourth High-Level International Conference on the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development, 2018–2028,” scheduled to take place from May 25 to 28 in Dushanbe.

According to the Committee for Women and Family Affairs under the Government of Tajikistan, the forum aims to establish a high-level international platform for addressing inequalities in the water sector, strengthening women’s participation in decision-making processes and enhancing their role in financing and implementing innovations in water management.

The forum program will include three panel sessions focusing on key issues related to gender equality and sustainable water development.

Discussions will address the creation of targeted financial mechanisms for women entrepreneurs, as well as the introduction of digital technologies, including artificial intelligence, to meet the specific needs of women in the water sector.

Participants will also examine the integration of gender equality into national water strategies, mechanisms for water resource management at all levels, regional and international cooperation, and scientific collaboration on glacier preservation and strengthening transboundary cooperation.

The Fourth High-Level International Conference on the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development, 2018–2028” will be hosted in the Tajik capital, Dushanbe, from May 25 to 28.

Since 2018, Tajikistan, in cooperation with the United Nations, has hosted three high-level international conferences in Dushanbe in 2018, 2022 and 2024.

The series of events, collectively known as the “Dushanbe Water Process,” has become an important international platform for discussing issues related to water resources, sanitation and climate change.
