Dushanbe Welcomes Over 701,000 Tourists in First Half of 2026

Dushanbe, The Gulf Observer: Tajikistan’s capital, Dushanbe, welcomed more than 701,000 tourists during the first six months of 2026, reflecting sustained growth in the country’s tourism sector and continued investment in urban development and visitor infrastructure.

Speaking at a press conference, First Deputy Mayor Bakhtiyor Sharifi said the city received 701,300 visitors between January and June, an increase of approximately 61,000 tourists compared with the corresponding period in 2025.

Sharifi attributed the growth in visitor arrivals to ongoing investments in urban development, tourism infrastructure, and public services, which have enhanced Dushanbe’s appeal as a destination for both domestic and international travelers.

According to city officials, Dushanbe is home to more than 2,500 tourism-related facilities and service providers, including hotels, restaurants, entertainment venues, travel agencies, and other businesses catering to the needs of visitors.

Officials noted that the capital’s tourism development is being implemented in line with Tajikistan’s Tourism Development Strategy through 2030, which identifies Dushanbe as a key tourism hub due to its cultural heritage, modern infrastructure, and expanding hospitality sector.

The city administration said the steady increase in tourist arrivals reflects continuous improvements in tourism services and sustained efforts to strengthen the sector’s competitiveness.

Officials also highlighted Dushanbe’s well-maintained parks and gardens, tree-lined boulevards, modern architecture, peaceful environment, and growing hospitality industry as key attractions that continue to enhance the city’s reputation among regional and international travelers.

The latest tourism figures underscore Tajikistan’s broader efforts to promote sustainable tourism and position Dushanbe as one of Central Asia’s emerging travel destinations.
