Uzbekistan and China Strengthen Educational Ties with Beijing Forum
Beijing, The Gulf Observer: On January 22, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China jointly organized an educational forum in Beijing, fostering collaboration between the two nations in the field of higher education.
The forum witnessed the participation of rectors from 37 leading universities in Uzbekistan and 110 higher education institutions in China. First Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation, K. Karimov, engaged in discussions with Vice Minister of Education of the People’s Republic of China, Chen Jie, exploring the significance of the high-level visit and outlining future prospects for bilateral cooperation.
Panel sessions were conducted by leaders of Uzbekistan-China universities across various disciplines, including exact sciences, engineering, agriculture, information and communication technology (ICT), humanities, medicine, and pharmaceuticals.
A noteworthy outcome of the event was the signing of 70 bilateral documents between educational institutions of both countries. Additionally, agreements were reached between five higher education institutions, paving the way for the organization of joint educational programs, benefitting over 300 students with the opportunity to study at advanced Chinese universities. Further agreements were made to establish grant programs for over 100 Uzbekistan students.
The culmination of the forum was marked by the adoption of the Beijing Cooperation Declaration between Uzbekistan and China’s higher education institutions. The declaration outlines the establishment of an institutional platform between higher education institutions of both countries. It envisions shaping a model of China–Central Asia Educational Cooperation, fostering the development of academic exchange programs, and implementing joint scientific and innovative projects.
This collaborative effort signifies a significant step towards strengthening educational ties between Uzbekistan and China, paving the way for enhanced academic exchange, joint research initiatives, and the development of innovative educational programs.
