Oman Cancer Association Collaborates with ONEIC
Muscat, The Gulf Observer: Oman Cancer Association signed a significant agreement with the Oman National Engineering and Investment Company (ONEIC) and Oman International Hospital at the Intercity Hotel in Muscat Governorate.
The agreement, aiming to bolster the treatment of cancer patients, serves as a platform for donations through the Onik platform. It facilitates community contributions to support and assist cancer patients by providing treatment at competitive prices. The Oman Cancer Association is set to manage the reception and review of requests for treatment, relying on community donations for the success of this noble initiative.
The auspicious occasion was graced by the sponsorship of Her Highness Dr Mona bint Fahd Al Said, Assistant President of Sultan Qaboos University for International Cooperation. The signing ceremony, attended by Dr Waheed bin Ali Al Kharousi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Oman Cancer Association, and the esteemed Dr Rashid Al Ghailani, CEO of ONEIC, and Director of Oman International Hospital, marked a crucial step in reinforcing efforts to combat cancer.
Dr Waheed bin Ali Al Kharousi elucidated that the agreement underscores the commitment to protect current and future generations from the health consequences of cancer. The initiative aims to raise awareness about the importance of periodic examinations, provide support for cancer patients and their families, and strengthen ties between civil society organizations and the residents of the Sultanate of Oman grappling with cancer. Dr Al Kharousi expressed hopes for long-term cooperation to serve cancer patients and increase corporate support for their challenging treatment journey.
Dr Rashid bin Mohammed Al Ghailani, CEO of ONEIC, emphasized the role of the agreement in bridging the gap for those who wish to donate and aid their fellow citizens affected by cancer. He highlighted ONEIC’s commitment to utilizing various platforms, including the ONEIC application, company offices across Oman, and self-service machines in commercial centers, to facilitate donations and create awareness campaigns.
Marcelo Barrera, Director of Oman International Hospital, expressed the hospital’s dedication to supporting cancer patients through specialized health services. The hospital aims to raise awareness about the disease, collaborate with a skilled staff to offer assistance to patients and their families, and contribute to the overall improvement of cancer care in the country.
Yathir Al Rawahiya, founder of the Oman Cancer Association and a cancer survivor, affirmed her commitment to developing a network of patient advocates in Oman and spreading awareness about cancer. Her goal is to encourage early intervention and ultimately achieve successful treatment outcomes.
The signing ceremony, attended by key representatives of the collaborating entities, included visual presentations showcasing the Oman Cancer Association’s services, including periodic examination care and Dar Al Hanan, provided to cancer patients. The Oman Cancer Association has successfully implemented numerous projects through partnerships between the public and private sectors, aiming to make a positive impact on the lives of those affected by cancer in Oman.
