China’s HH-100 Unmanned Aerial Transportation System Completes Successful Maiden Flight
Xi’an, The Gulf Observer: The Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) has announced the successful maiden flight of the HH-100 aerial commercial unmanned transportation system. The demonstrator of this advanced system completed its first flight on Wednesday at a general aviation airport in Xi’an City, located in northwest China’s Shaanxi Province.
The HH-100 was independently developed by AVIC XAC Commercial Aircraft Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of AVIC based in Xi’an. The system consists of two main components: an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) and a ground-based command-and-control station.
During the test flight, the HH-100 demonstrator exhibited stable performance, meeting all test flight requirements, with all relevant systems functioning well, according to AVIC.
The HH-100 is designed as a low-cost, high-payload aircraft with impressive specifications. It boasts a maximum take-off weight of 2,000 kilograms, a payload capacity of 700 kilograms, and a full-weight range of 520 kilometers. The aircraft can cruise at a maximum speed of 300 kilometers per hour and has a service ceiling of 5,000 meters. It is capable of carrying approximately 4 cubic meters of cargo, making it a powerful asset for cargo transportation.
The aircraft is set to enhance air-ground transportation connectivity, and its versatile capabilities will extend beyond regional air logistics. The HH-100 will also be deployed for forest and grassland firefighting, the delivery of relief materials, emergency relay communication, and weather modification.
With an eye on the expanding low-altitude economy, AVIC is planning a series of large, intelligent, low-cost, and reliable commercial unmanned transportation aerial systems to meet future demands. The successful maiden flight of the HH-100 marks a significant milestone in China’s advancement in unmanned aerial technology, promising to revolutionize aerial transportation and logistics.
