AI Integration and Investment Drive Technological Growth in Asia-Pacific and Vietnam

Hanoi, The Gulf Observer: Personal computer manufacturers have increasingly focused on integrating artificial intelligence (AI) chips into their products to enhance user experience and encourage AI adoption among consumers.
Asus, for example, has introduced AI-integrated features in its products, both through online and in-store experiences. A representative from Asus highlighted that its ROG series, aimed at gamers, uses AI to enhance the gaming experience. Asus has also collaborated with partners to explore real-world AI applications. Surveys reveal that users familiar with AI report significant productivity improvements.
Language barriers, however, remain a challenge in the Asia-Pacific region, particularly in adopting AI voice support. To address this, Asus has enhanced its AI capabilities to recognize Vietnamese, Cambodian, and Burmese languages, enabling users in these countries to benefit fully from AI functionalities.
In a significant development, NVIDIA has expanded its presence in Vietnam by acquiring shares in VinBrain, an AI start-up under Vingroup, and announcing the construction of two AI research centres in the country. NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang emphasized Vietnam’s potential, citing its pool of one million software engineers who can be trained in AI to position the nation as a leading exporter of AI technologies.
Viettel has also invested $100 million in building a large AI data centre, while FPT has partnered with NVIDIA, committing $200 million to establish an AI factory supporting cloud computing and AI research.
The Potential of AI
Nguyễn Trung Chính, Chairman of CMC Corporation, described AI as a transformative technology with the capacity to impact all economic sectors. “By 2030, AI is projected to contribute $15.7 trillion to the global economy and boost labour productivity by 40% by 2035,” he said.
Trương Gia Bình, Chairman of FPT Group, noted that his company invested in AI over a decade ago, foreseeing its immense potential. He highlighted that major corporations have doubled their AI investments, driving growth in the sector.
According to a Google report, AI adoption could generate an additional $79.3 billion for Vietnamese businesses by 2030, equivalent to 12% of the country’s economy.
Vietnam’s government has prioritized AI and semiconductor development, issuing a national AI strategy for 2030. This initiative aims to position Vietnam as a regional and global hub for AI research and development, advancing the country’s technological and economic transformation.
