Anwar Ibrahim Invites South Korean Investors to Explore Opportunities in Malaysia
Kuala Lumpur, The Gulf Observer: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who also serves as Finance Minister, has invited South Korean investors to explore the various opportunities available in Malaysia and to collaborate on efforts to boost mutual prosperity.
During his official visit to South Korea, Anwar met with several chief executive officers during the C-Suite Insight Session and delivered a speech at the Malaysia-Korea Business Forum 2024 on Monday, November 25, after meeting with South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol.
Anwar highlighted the strong and enduring relationship between Malaysia and South Korea, emphasizing both countries’ commitment to innovation and sustainable growth. He shared his enthusiasm on social media, noting that the forum reflected the close ties and shared goals between the two nations.
At the forum, Anwar welcomed over 200 participants, representing 147 South Korean companies across various sectors, including semiconductor, electric vehicles, green technology, and artificial intelligence (AI). He outlined Malaysia’s policies under the Madani Economic Framework, supported by initiatives like the New Industrial Master Plan 2030, the National Energy Transition Roadmap, and the Semiconductor Strategic Plan.
The Prime Minister also highlighted the opportunities available through Malaysia’s C-Suite Platform, which facilitated direct engagement with major South Korean companies, including Samsung, SimmTech, Poongsan Corporation, Lotte Energy Materials, and Kumho Petrochemical. These companies have presented their plans for investments in Malaysia, spanning areas such as semiconductor manufacturing, renewable energy, rare earth processing, and the halal industry.
Anwar expressed his excitement about the commitment shown by these companies and their confidence in Malaysia’s stability, policies, and its status as a strategic investment destination.
This visit marks a key moment in strengthening Malaysia-South Korea relations, with both countries set to celebrate the 65th anniversary of their diplomatic ties in 2025.
