Beijing, The Gulf Observer: A spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Mao Ning, emphasized on Tuesday that the concept of a “small yard and high fence” would not impede China’s progress. Mao further asserted that such restrictive measures would not be beneficial for U.S. companies or the broader semiconductor industry.

The comments were made during a daily press briefing when Mao Ning was asked to provide insights on the matter. The backdrop for the discussion was Nvidia’s recent report to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, where Huawei was listed among its current competitors in artificial intelligence, chips, and various sectors. Nvidia expressed concerns about potential negative impacts on its competitive position if there were further changes in U.S. government export controls.

Highlighting the significance of open cooperation as a core driving force for semiconductor industry growth, Mao stated that China stands as one of the major semiconductor markets globally. He emphasized that efforts to fragment the market, disrupt global industrial and supply chains, and impede efficiency and innovation would not serve the interests of any party involved.

Mao urged the United States to adhere to principles of a market economy and fair competition. He called for support for companies worldwide in advancing science and technology through healthy competition, emphasizing the importance of a collaborative and inclusive approach in the semiconductor industry.

The comments reflect China’s commitment to maintaining an open and competitive environment in the technological landscape, advocating for global cooperation to drive innovation and progress in the semiconductor sector.
