El-Sisi and Macron Discuss Urgent Steps to End Gaza War and Support Humanitarian Relief Efforts

El-Sisi

Cairo, The Gulf Observer: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi held a telephone conversation on Tuesday with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron to discuss concerted efforts aimed at achieving an immediate halt to the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip, according to a statement issued by the Egyptian Presidency.

During the discussion, both leaders exchanged views on the negotiations currently hosted by Egypt involving the relevant parties, with the goal of implementing the peace plan announced by U.S. President Donald Trump to end the conflict, media reports said.

President El-Sisi and President Macron expressed appreciation for the plan, emphasizing the need to immediately enforce a ceasefire, expand the unhindered flow of humanitarian and relief aid into Gaza, and facilitate the exchange of hostages and prisoners. They also highlighted the importance of launching reconstruction efforts in Gaza without the displacement of the Palestinian people from their land.

The two presidents reaffirmed their shared commitment to continuing consultations and coordination in order to end the war and address the grave humanitarian crisis facing the Palestinian population in the enclave.

Egypt remains a key mediator in the regional and international efforts to restore peace, while France continues to support diplomatic initiatives that seek to de-escalate tensions and ensure sustained humanitarian access to Gaza.
