Indonesia, Belarus Explore Deeper Cooperation in Higher Education and Technology

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: The governments of Indonesia and Belarus have expressed a shared commitment to advancing cooperation in human resource development, with a focus on strengthening partnerships in higher education, science, and technology.

In an official statement issued Thursday, Indonesia’s Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, Brian Yuliarto, affirmed his ministry’s readiness to engage in further dialogue with the Belarusian Ministry of Education to pursue concrete areas of collaboration.

“I appreciate Belarus’ keenness to cooperate with us in this matter, and I am convinced that Indonesia’s relations with Belarus will grow stronger and endure for years to come,” Yuliarto stated during his meeting with Belarusian Ambassador to Indonesia, Raman Ramanouski, in Jakarta on Tuesday, April 15.

He emphasized that the Indonesian government, under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto, is prioritizing the enhancement of human resource quality as a national agenda. This includes reinforcing the link between academic institutions and industry stakeholders.

“We are focused on enhancing the quality of higher education institutions, guiding them to contribute more to human resource development, conduct impactful research, and intensify collaboration with industries,” the minister added.

Yuliarto also noted that this strategic approach is critical to achieving Indonesia’s broader national goals, such as promoting economic growth, ensuring food and water security, transitioning to renewable energy, developing downstream industries, advancing defense technologies, and fostering the domestic semiconductor sector.

Ambassador Ramanouski welcomed the initiative, highlighting that the Belarusian Ministry of Education is enthusiastic about expanding ties with Indonesia, particularly following the arrival of Indonesian students in Belarus through the Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards (IISMA) program last year.

Citing Belarus’ strengths in science and technology, the ambassador expressed confidence in his country’s capacity to contribute to Indonesia’s development priorities. He also conveyed interest in initiating cooperation in the field of information technology.

The dialogue marks a significant step in advancing bilateral relations between the two nations, with a shared focus on innovation, academic excellence, and sustainable development.
