Indonesia Renews Call for Two-State Solution Amid Escalating Humanitarian Crisis in Gaza

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: Indonesia has once again reaffirmed its steadfast commitment to a just and comprehensive political resolution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, reiterating its call for a two-state solution as Israeli aggression in Palestine continues to escalate.

In a statement issued on Friday via platform X, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs underscored that, “Indonesia reiterates its call for a just and comprehensive political plan with a two-state solution at its core, where an independent Palestinian State and Israel coexist peacefully in line with internationally agreed parameters.”

The ministry also conveyed Indonesia’s deep concern over the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza, particularly the harrowing civilian casualties and the deteriorating living conditions. “Indonesia expresses deep concern over the horrific killing of civilians and the inhumane conditions in Gaza,” the statement read.

Highlighting the dire situation, the ministry pointed out that thousands of Palestinians are facing starvation as Israel continues to block the entry of essential humanitarian aid. In light of these developments, Indonesia urged the international community to act decisively.

“The international community — especially the UN Security Council — must take concrete measures to halt Israel’s aggression and ensure full, safe, and sustained humanitarian access, including through UN agencies,” the ministry emphasized.

Indonesia also welcomed the recent joint call by several countries and the European Union, urging Israel to immediately lift restrictions on humanitarian aid and reaffirming the importance of civilian protection and adherence to international humanitarian law.

“The international community must unite in a common effort to bring this conflict to an end,” the statement concluded.

This renewed appeal follows a major development on the international stage, as French President Emmanuel Macron on Thursday announced that France will officially recognize the State of Palestine in September 2025, aligning with his upcoming declaration at the United Nations General Assembly.

“Consistent with its historic commitment to a just and lasting peace in the Middle East, I have decided that France will recognize the State of Palestine,” President Macron declared in a statement posted on platform X.

Macron also stressed the urgent need for a ceasefire, the release of all hostages, and the unimpeded delivery of humanitarian assistance to Gaza. His announcement was welcomed by several European leaders, including those from Ireland and Spain, who have already extended recognition to the Palestinian State.

Indonesia continues to advocate for meaningful international efforts to restore peace, ensure justice, and uphold the rights of the Palestinian people.
