Oman, Morocco Explore Enhanced Cooperation in Social and Family Development

Rabat, The Gulf Observer: The Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of Morocco have explored avenues to strengthen bilateral cooperation in social and family development, with a focus on exchanging expertise to address family-related challenges and promote inclusive social progress.

The discussions were held during a meeting between Dr. Laila bint Ahmed Al-Najjar and Naima Ibn Yahya, as part of an official visit by the Omani delegation to Morocco.

Both sides reviewed key areas of cooperation, including social welfare systems, child and family protection, elderly care, and empowerment initiatives for persons with disabilities, alongside strategies to enhance women’s empowerment.

The Moroccan experience in strengthening social welfare institutions and fostering partnerships with civil society organizations was highlighted as a model for collaboration. Discussions also focused on improving services, assessment mechanisms, and accessibility for persons with disabilities.

On the sidelines of the visit, Al-Najjar held a separate meeting with Dr. Abdeljabbar Rachidi to discuss legislative frameworks aimed at promoting independence and inclusion of persons with disabilities, as well as related health and social services.

In another engagement, the Omani minister met with Salim bin Mohammed Al-Malik at the headquarters of the Islamic World Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization in Rabat. The talks centered on enhancing cooperation in child protection, family cohesion, and cultural development, while also reviewing ongoing partnerships between Oman and the organization.

The meetings underscore the shared commitment of both countries to deepen collaboration and exchange best practices in advancing social development and family welfare.
