Iran Rejects G7 Allegations as Unfounded and Hypocritical

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei has firmly rejected the allegations made against Iran by the foreign ministers of the Group of Seven (G7) industrialized countries, calling them completely unfounded and hypocritical.

In his reaction on Saturday, Baqaei condemned the accusations made by G7 top diplomats during their meeting in Charlevoix, Canada. The G7 leaders had accused Iran of supplying weapons to Russia for use in the Ukraine war and labeled Iran as the “principal source of instability” in the West Asia region, asserting that Iran should “never be allowed to develop and acquire a nuclear weapon.”

Baqaei denounced these accusations as a clear distortion of facts and an “evil blame game” orchestrated by the G7 members. He highlighted the “unlawful, irresponsible, and interfering behaviors” of the G7 countries in West Asia, particularly their military, financial, and political support for Israel’s genocide in Gaza. He stressed that these countries must be held accountable for their flawed performance concerning peace in West Asia and their complicity in the “clear violation of human rights” in occupied Palestine.

The spokesperson emphasized that Iran’s nuclear activities are conducted in line with its technical and industrial needs, in accordance with its international rights and obligations defined under the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and the Safeguards Agreement.

Baqaei described the G7’s expression of concern over Iran’s nuclear activities as baseless, resulting merely from a politicized approach by some of the group’s members. He reiterated that Iran has been at the forefront of efforts to establish a Middle East free from nuclear weapons, while Israel, with the full support of G7 countries, continues to develop weapons of mass destruction, posing the most severe threat to international peace and security.

He asserted that Iran reserves its inherent right to defend its people, national sovereignty, and territorial integrity against any threats and aggression. Therefore, developing robust military-defense capabilities is crucial not only for national security but also for safeguarding peace and stability in West Asia.

Rejecting the allegations of weapon deliveries to Russia for use in the Ukraine war, Baqaei reiterated that Iran has no involvement in the conflict. He underscored that the Islamic Republic’s principled policy is to advocate for resolving the conflict through diplomatic negotiations between the relevant parties.

Baqaei advised those leveling accusations against Iran to address their own flawed policies rather than shifting blame onto others.
