Moroccan Prime Minister Conveys Kingdom’s Condolences to Qatar Over Passing of Former Amir

Doha, The Gulf Observer: Moroccan Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch has conveyed the condolences of King Mohammed VI and the people of Morocco to Qatar following the death of the country’s former Amir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, during a meeting with Qatar’s Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani at Lusail Palace.

According to the Qatar News Agency (QNA), Akhannouch expressed Morocco’s heartfelt sympathy over the passing of the Father Amir, who led Qatar from 1995 to 2013 and played a pivotal role in the country’s modernization and global prominence. The meeting was attended by senior members of Qatar’s ruling family, including Deputy Amir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Thani, the Amir’s Personal Representative Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, and other senior officials.

The visit came as Qatar continued to receive condolences from world leaders and dignitaries following the death of Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani. The Amiri Diwan announced a four-day period of national mourning, with flags flown at half-mast and government offices temporarily closed in tribute to the late leader.

Earlier, King Mohammed VI sent a message of condolence to Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, paying tribute to the late Father Amir’s visionary leadership and his significant contributions to Qatar’s economic, political, and social development. The Moroccan monarch also praised Sheikh Hamad’s steadfast support for Arab causes and highlighted the enduring fraternal ties between Morocco and Qatar, recalling the late leader’s longstanding friendship and solidarity with the Kingdom.
