People's Strength Key to Overcoming National Challenges: Parliament Speaker Qalibaf

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf has emphasized that the resolution of the country’s present challenges lies in harnessing the strength and determination of the Iranian people, drawing parallels with the unwavering resistance shown during the years of the Sacred Defense.

Speaking at an open session of the Parliament on Sunday, Qalibaf underscored the critical role of public resolve and unity in the face of adversity. “If the country’s officials rely on the strength of the people, today’s problems can be overcome—just as our commanders did during the Sacred Defense,” he stated, referring to the 1980–1988 Iran-Iraq War.

Highlighting historical attempts by adversaries to separate Khorramshahr from Iran, the Speaker noted that it was the Iranian people—especially the youth—who thwarted such plans with determination and courage.

Qalibaf recalled the significant events of May 24, 1982, when Iranian armed forces reclaimed Khorramshahr in a major operation known as Beit al-Moqaddas. The liberation marked a turning point in the war and remains a symbol of national resilience.

He added that the defenders of the homeland, inspired by a strong belief in divine promises, did not falter in the face of the enemy’s military might. “With firm faith and steadfastness, they stood fearlessly and repelled the aggression,” he said.

The Parliament Speaker’s remarks come as Iran continues to navigate complex domestic and international challenges, with a call for unity and reliance on the people’s enduring spirit.
