President Ilham Aliyev Appoints Mukhtar Babayev as COP29 President

Baku, The Gulf Observer: President Ilham Aliyev has taken a significant step in the global fight against climate change by appointing Mukhtar Babayev, the Azerbaijani Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, as the President for the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29). Additionally, Babayev will preside over the 19th session of the COP, serving as the Meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol (CMP 19), and the 6th session of the COP, serving as the Meeting of the Parties to the Paris Agreement (CMA 6). President Aliyev’s order authorizes Babayev to assemble a dedicated team responsible for preparing these vital conferences and ensuring the successful implementation of the presidency.
