President Joko Widodo Inaugurates Batang Integrated Industrial Park
Central Java, The Gulf Observer: President Joko Widodo, commonly known as Jokowi, inaugurated operations at the Batang Integrated Industrial Park in Central Java on Friday. The new industrial park is anticipated to accommodate various industries and factories, significantly boosting job creation in the region.
During the inauguration, President Widodo highlighted the strategic importance of the Batang Integrated Industrial Area as an efficient industrial hub designed to attract investors and create numerous job opportunities.
“By saying bismillahirrahmanirrahim, this afternoon, I officially launch the operation of the Batang Integrated Industrial Park in Batang district, Central Java province,” he announced at the event, which was broadcast live on the YouTube channel of the Presidential Secretariat.
The President explained that the industrial park was initiated in response to the geopolitical tensions arising from the trade war between the United States and China in 2019. He recognized a significant opportunity as companies looked to relocate their operations to countries with robust economic growth, low inflation, and stable political environments.
“If we do not make a quick decision and implement this decision quickly, the opportunity will be lost,” he cautioned.
President Widodo expressed gratitude for Indonesia’s improvement in the World Competitiveness Index, where the country now ranks 27th, attributing this to Indonesia’s strong economic performance and efficient business practices.
The first phase of the Batang Integrated Industrial Park covers 400 hectares, with plans to expand to a total of 4,300 hectares. This expansion aims to accommodate a wide range of industries and factories, potentially employing up to 250,000 workers.
Currently, investment in the industrial park stands at Rp14 trillion (approximately US$860.26 million), with around 19,000 workers already employed.
The inauguration of the Batang Integrated Industrial Park marks a significant milestone in Indonesia’s economic development, showcasing the country’s commitment to fostering a favorable environment for industrial growth and job creation.
