President Masoud Pezeshkian Pays Tribute to Lebanese Resistance Leaders Ahead of State Funeral

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Hours before the official funeral for two prominent leaders of the Lebanese resistance movement, President Masoud Pezeshkian issued a message in their remembrance, honoring their dedication and sacrifice.
On Sunday morning, as thousands of Lebanese citizens gathered at Camille Chamoun Sports City Stadium to pay their final respects to Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah and Sayyed Hashim Safieddine, President Pezeshkian took to his X account to commemorate the fallen leaders. Describing them as “the valiant sons” of the Lebanese nation, he acknowledged their unwavering commitment to their cause.
Writing separately in Arabic and Persian, the president hailed Nasrallah and Safieddine as “heroes who stayed true to their pledge and defended the dignity of the [Islamic] umma.” His message concluded with the phrase “#we_stay_true_to_our_pledge,” underscoring the enduring legacy of the two figures.
Nasrallah served as the secretary-general of the Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah for 32 years before he was assassinated in an Israeli strike in Dahieh, a southern suburb of Beirut, on September 27 last year. His deputy, Sayyed Hashim Safieddine, was subsequently appointed as Hezbollah’s new secretary-general but met the same fate in an Israeli airstrike in Dahieh on October 3.
The funeral, set to take place later today, has drawn delegates from the highest ranks of the Iranian government, alongside thousands of mourners from Lebanon and beyond. The event is expected to serve as a moment of unity and reflection on the sacrifices made by the resistance leaders.
