President Mirziyoyev Visits Khushnud Mahalla, Highlights Progress and Community Development
Yangihayot District, The Gulf Observer: President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Khushnud mahalla in the Yangihayot district to assess the improvements in the community and interact with residents. Established in 2021, the mahalla is now home to over 11,000 people residing in 48 apartment buildings and 625 households. The area has transformed significantly from its previously neglected state into a thriving community hub.
The mahalla boasts various modern facilities, including a kindergarten, a sports school, a family clinic, a private clinic, manufacturing enterprises, shops, and consumer services. Through 49 micro-projects implemented this year, employment opportunities have been created for 116 citizens. Since 2018, the district has witnessed the construction of modern housing, children’s playgrounds, and sports grounds, accompanied by extensive landscaping.
A newly built three-story mahalla building stands as a testament to the progress achieved. Its ground floor houses offices for the mahalla chairman and staff, alongside a library and a Jadid corner dedicated to cultural enrichment. The upper floors feature a training center for exact sciences and foreign languages, a fitness room, and a mono-center for youth professional orientation.
During his visit, President Mirziyoyev toured the facilities and held discussions with mahalla activists and senior community members, or aksakals. He praised the rapid development of Yangihayot district in recent years, which has seen the establishment of new transport facilities, enterprises, and improvements in various sectors.
“The purpose of our visit today is to observe the results of our decisions and understand the people’s lives,” the President remarked. “We aim to replicate this progress in every region, creating better amenities and increasing employment opportunities. Education, upbringing, and culture are key priorities because strong knowledge and spirituality drive economic growth.”
The President also visited a private kindergarten within the mahalla, which accommodates 150 children and operates on the first two floors of a newly constructed 16-story building. The institution seamlessly blends modern design with national traditions, offering families an environment conducive to early childhood development. This facility particularly benefits women with small children, many of whom now find employment opportunities in nearby districts in industries such as sewing and confectionery production. The kindergarten provides them the flexibility to work while ensuring their children receive quality care.
President Mirziyoyev emphasized the importance of the mahalla system in Uzbekistan’s governance model. “Mahallas are central to implementing key national programs. By empowering them, we are directly improving the well-being of our citizens,” he stated.
The visit underscored the government’s commitment to grassroots development and its dedication to enhancing the quality of life across Uzbekistan.
