President Tokayev’s Visit to Azerbaijan Culminates in Milli Majlis Address
Baku, The Gulf Observer: As part of his official state visit to Azerbaijan, the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, paid a visit to the Milli Majlis, where he was warmly welcomed by the Speaker of the Parliament, Sahiba Gafarova.
During his visit, President Tokayev explored the meeting hall of the Milli Majlis, symbolizing the historic ties between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan.
Addressing the gathering, Speaker Sahiba Gafarova emphasized the profound significance of President Tokayev’s state visit and the fruitful meetings held with President Ilham Aliyev. She highlighted the attention and importance attached to these events in Azerbaijan, noting that the visit serves to strengthen the friendly and brotherly ties between the two nations, contributing to the further expansion of bilateral relations.
Speaker Gafarova underscored the shared cultural and moral roots binding the Azerbaijani and Kazakh peoples, emphasizing the historical and cultural bonds that continue to foster cooperation.
Highlighting the strong interparliamentary ties between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan, Speaker Gafarova praised the mutual collaboration between the higher legislative bodies as a driving force with significant positive impacts on bilateral and multilateral relations.
Expressing concern over recent instances of double standards and trends of Islamophobia, Speaker Gafarova called for united efforts among parliamentarians to strengthen TURKPA. She reiterated President Ilham Aliyev’s prioritization of cooperation within the Organization of Turkic States.
President Tokayev, in turn, emphasized the strategic partnership and alliance between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan, stressing the special obligations that accompany this esteemed status. He acknowledged Azerbaijan’s increasing influence in the region and expressed Kazakhstan’s keen interest in comprehensive cooperation across various sectors.
The discussions between the two leaders covered topics such as cooperation in oil and gas, logistics, digital technologies, industry, and other relevant fields. President Tokayev commended the strong collaboration between the two countries in transport and logistics, including projects like the Middle Corridor.
Speaker Gafarova highlighted the close relations and regular contacts between the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan and both the Parliamentary Assembly and the Senate of Kazakhstan. The leaders exchanged opinions on various other issues of mutual interest, further solidifying the enduring partnership between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan.
