President Xi Jinping Expresses Confidence in Sam Hou Fai as Macao’s New Chief Executive
Macao, The Gulf Observer: Chinese President Xi Jinping expressed his confidence in Sam Hou Fai, who was sworn in on Friday as the sixth-term Chief Executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR).
During a meeting with Sam, Xi conveyed his strong belief that the newly appointed Chief Executive will lead the Macao SAR government and its citizens in effectively implementing the principle of “one country, two systems.” Xi emphasized that this principle, under which the people of Macao govern themselves with a high degree of autonomy, will be carried out comprehensively, accurately, and unwaveringly.
The Chinese President also expressed confidence that Macao will continue to safeguard national sovereignty, security, and development interests while promoting appropriate economic diversification and improving the well-being of its people. Furthermore, Xi stressed that Macao will use its unique advantages to integrate more effectively into national development and deepen international cooperation.
“The central government will fully support the Chief Executive and the Macao SAR government in fulfilling their responsibilities,” Xi affirmed.
Sam Hou Fai, in turn, expressed his gratitude to Xi and the central government for their trust and support. He pledged to lead the new SAR government in further advancing the successful implementation of “one country, two systems” in Macao.
