Prime Minister of Qatar Attends Expanded Ministerial Meeting on Syria
Aqaba, The Gulf Observer: HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, participated in an expanded ministerial meeting on Syria held in Aqaba, Jordan, on Saturday. The meeting brought together key stakeholders, including representatives from the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Iraq, Lebanon, Egypt, and Turkey, as well as the United States, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, and the European Union. The Secretary-General of the League of Arab States and the United Nations Special Envoy to Syria also participated in the discussions.
The primary focus of the meeting was to explore ways to support a comprehensive political process led by the Syrian people, in line with United Nations Security Council Resolution 2254. The goal is to achieve a transitional process that aligns with the aspirations of the Syrian people, facilitates the rebuilding of Syrian state institutions, and ensures Syria’s unity, territorial integrity, sovereignty, security, stability, and the protection of all citizens’ rights.
During his address, HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani emphasized the importance of ensuring Syria’s unity and the peaceful transfer of power through a political process that unites all parties, based on the framework of UN Security Council Resolution 2254. He also called for strengthened efforts to protect civilians and combat terrorism in the region.
