Saudi Health Ministry Concludes Successful Hajj 2026 Operations with Over 2.5 Million Medical Services Delivered

Makkah, The Gulf Observer: The Ministry of Health has announced the successful completion of its health operations for the 2026 Hajj season, confirming that no epidemic outbreaks or public health threats were recorded among pilgrims.
According to the ministry, healthcare teams provided more than 2.5 million medical services to pilgrims from the beginning of the Hajj season until Dhul Hijjah 12 (May 29), underscoring the Kingdom’s extensive efforts to ensure the health and safety of worshippers.
Official figures showed that 114,889 pilgrims benefited from health centers and urgent-care facilities, while emergency departments handled 58,462 cases. Outpatient clinics received 29,846 patients, and 8,342 individuals were admitted to hospitals for further treatment.
Specialized medical teams also carried out 410 surgical procedures, including 323 cardiac catheterizations and 33 open-heart surgeries, highlighting the advanced healthcare services made available during the pilgrimage.
In addition to treatment services, health authorities expanded awareness and prevention efforts, delivering more than 292,585 preventive services throughout the season. The ministry’s unified 937 call center received over one million calls, providing round-the-clock medical guidance and support in seven languages.
The 2026 Hajj season also witnessed the unprecedented use of advanced healthcare technologies. Authorities deployed drones to rapidly transport essential medicines and medical equipment, while specialized surgeons utilized medical robotics to perform complex procedures. Smartwatch technology was also employed to remotely monitor the vital signs of high-risk pilgrims, enabling faster medical intervention when needed.
The Ministry of Health said these initiatives reflect Saudi Arabia’s ongoing commitment to enhancing healthcare services through innovation and modern technology, ensuring a safe and healthy pilgrimage experience for millions of worshippers.
