Tajik Language Committee Conducts Inspections in Kulob to Strengthen Use of State Language

Dushanbe, The Gulf Observer: A working group from the Language and Terminology Committee under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan conducted inspections and meetings at various institutions in the city of Kulob as part of efforts to implement the state policy on protecting and strengthening the status of the Tajik language.
According to the committee, the initiative was carried out in accordance with the Law of the Republic of Tajikistan “On the State Language of the Republic of Tajikistan” and the “State Language Development Program for 2020–2030.”
During the inspections, the working group reviewed the activities of the Kulob city executive authorities, the education department, universities and institutes, the civil registration office, as well as secondary and vocational educational institutions. Particular attention was given to official documentation practices, compliance with Tajik language spelling standards, proper use of punctuation, the quality of public signs and notices, and the overall culture of state language usage in daily institutional operations.
The inspection results indicated that most institutions demonstrated a strong commitment to preserving and promoting the state language. Official documents were generally prepared in accordance with literary language standards, while the correct use of terminology and expressions was found to be at a satisfactory level.
However, inspectors also identified minor shortcomings in some institutions, including errors in signage, punctuation, and the preparation of official documents. Specific recommendations were provided to responsible officials to address these issues and improve compliance with language standards.
Hamrokhon Dustzoda, Director of the National Translation Center under the Language and Terminology Committee, emphasized that the state language is one of the sacred pillars of statehood, an important factor in strengthening national identity, and a key means of presenting the nation on the international stage. He stressed that every citizen has a responsibility to treat the state language with special respect and contribute to the implementation of its standards.
The committee noted that such inspections and meetings play a significant role in the further development of the state language and the promotion of national values, and similar activities will continue in the future.
