SCCI Explores Agricultural Investment Opportunities with Estonian and Russian Delegations

Sharjah, The Gulf Observer: The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) recently engaged in constructive talks with business delegations from the Republic of Estonia and the Russian Federation, with a primary focus on enhancing investment cooperation within the agricultural sector. The discussions unfolded on the sidelines of a pivotal business meeting held at the SCCI headquarters between Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of SCCI, and Madis Kallas, Minister of Regional Affairs of the Republic of Estonia.

During the meeting, the SCCI and the visiting delegations deliberated on avenues to identify collaborative opportunities and strengthen communication among the business communities of Sharjah and Estonia. The discussions also encompassed strategies to leverage mutual expertise, exchange experiences, and ensure the success of agricultural projects, thereby fostering increased investment in this pivotal sector.

Esteemed officials present at the meeting included Mohammad Ahmed Amin Al Awadi, Director-General of SCCI; Abdul Aziz Al Shamsi, Assistant Director-General for Communication and Business Sector; Fatima Khalifa Al-Muqrab, Director of the International Relations Department in the Chamber; and Tõnis Tänav, Deputy Secretary-General for Fisheries Policy and Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Regional Affairs and Agriculture.

Abdullah Sultan Al Owais underscored the Chamber’s commitment to supporting investment development in the agricultural sector, aligning with Sharjah’s strategic approach aimed at promoting sustainable agricultural development and achieving food security. Al Owais emphasized, “Our discussions with the Estonian delegation today reaffirm the Chamber’s keenness to learn about global expertise in agriculture.”

He further expressed the Chamber’s ambition to broaden the base of companies in the agricultural sector, enhance their competitiveness, facilitate expansion, and encourage the initiation of new projects. Al Owais highlighted the promising opportunities that investing in Sharjah’s agricultural sector could offer, owing to its strategic location, attractive investment climate, and status as a pivotal commercial and industrial hub in the region.

In addition to the discussions with the Estonian delegation, Al Owais also met with a delegation from the Russian Federation, led by Vitaly Stepanov, CEO of the Moscow Export Center. The meeting with the Russian delegation explored avenues to develop cooperation and trade exchange between Sharjah and Russia in agriculture and food production. Topics included strategies to achieve food security, mutual participation in exhibitions dedicated to modern agricultural techniques, and overall strengthening of bilateral ties in the agricultural domain.

The engagement with both delegations reflects SCCI’s proactive efforts to foster international collaborations, explore investment opportunities, and contribute to the growth and sustainability of the agricultural sector in Sharjah.
