Thailand to Enhance Education Collaboration with Indonesia

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: Thailand is set to increase its collaboration with Indonesia in the education sector, as announced by Putu Supadma Rudana, Deputy Chairperson of the Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee (BKSAP) of Indonesia’s House of Representatives (DPR).
In a statement following a visit from Thai parliament representatives on Saturday, Rudana highlighted Thailand’s interest in the partnership due to the significant number of Thai students, including scholarship recipients, pursuing degrees in Indonesia, particularly in Yogyakarta City.
“Many Thai students are already studying in Indonesia, especially in Yogyakarta. This growing trend underscores the importance of our educational collaboration,” Rudana said.
The Thai parliamentary delegation visited Jakarta and Yogyakarta, a favorite destination for Thai students, and are planning a visit to Bali. Their visit aims to strengthen the ties between the two countries.
Rudana mentioned that Indonesia is keen to build on the existing cooperation and expand collaboration in several fields. He noted that cooperation between Indonesia and Thailand has been well maintained, with potential areas for further collaboration, including tourism and agricultural products within ASEAN.
During their meeting, the representatives also discussed the resolution on Myanmar adopted at the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) Forum in Brunei Darussalam, focusing on its implementation.
Rudana emphasized Indonesia’s proactive stance in ensuring swift action on the resolution, proposing the formation of a task force to expedite its implementation.
“We aim to accelerate the implementation of the resolution on Myanmar. Forming a task force could be a crucial step towards mediating peace and promoting democracy in Myanmar,” he said.
He also called for support from Thailand and other ASEAN member states to ensure the immediate implementation of the Myanmar resolution, underscoring the importance of regional cooperation in addressing such critical issues.
