Ankara, The Gulf Observer: Turkish security forces have successfully apprehended two individuals sought by Interpol for charges related to smuggling and fraud, announced Ali Yerlikaya, the Interior Minister of Turkiye.
The operation, codenamed MAHZEN-23, was carried out in Istanbul, resulting in the capture of the two suspects. Following their arrest, the individuals were promptly transferred to the Repatriation Center, where they will undergo legal proceedings before being repatriated to their respective countries.
Identified as Talgat Baisaov and Maxat Rakhishov, the apprehended suspects were the subjects of Interpol’s Red Notices for their alleged involvement in illegal organization activities, smuggling, and fraud, respectively.
Minister Yerlikaya emphasized Turkiye’s unwavering commitment to combating international organized crime syndicates and drug trafficking networks, which pose a threat to the safety and well-being of the nation’s citizens. He reiterated that regardless of the magnitude of the crimes or the warrants issued against them, Turkish authorities will relentlessly pursue justice and ensure that perpetrators are held accountable for their actions.
“We will not allow international organized crime syndicates and drug traffickers who disrupt the peace of our people to breathe freely,” Minister Yerlikaya affirmed. “We will deliver each and every one of them to justice.”
The successful apprehension of these two Interpol-wanted individuals underscores Turkiye’s dedication to international law enforcement cooperation and its proactive stance in combating transnational crime.
