Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: Turkmenistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Rashid Meredov, met with United States Senator Steve Daines of Montana on Thursday to discuss the current state of bilateral relations and explore opportunities for expanding cooperation across a range of mutually beneficial sectors.

During the meeting, the two sides reviewed key aspects of Turkmenistan–United States cooperation and exchanged views on prospects for strengthening collaboration in areas of shared interest.

The interlocutors expressed satisfaction with the steady and constructive political and diplomatic dialogue between the two countries, emphasizing the importance of maintaining regular contacts at various levels. They noted that high-level exchanges have played a significant role in advancing bilateral relations and reinforcing constructive interstate cooperation.

Special attention was given to enhancing interparliamentary engagement, with both sides recognizing its importance as an effective mechanism for strengthening mutual understanding and broadening the overall partnership between Turkmenistan and the United States.

Trade and economic cooperation featured prominently in the discussions. The parties explored opportunities to expand collaboration in the energy sector, as well as in trade, investment, transport, and logistics. They also underscored the important role of the Turkmenistan–United States Business Council in fostering stronger commercial ties and promoting mutually beneficial cooperation between the business communities of both countries.

In addition to bilateral issues, the meeting included an exchange of views on a range of regional and international developments of common interest.

Concluding the talks, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining a constructive dialogue and further strengthening Turkmenistan–United States relations through sustained political, parliamentary, and economic cooperation.
