Turkmenistan, Pakistan Reaffirm Commitment to Expanding Bilateral Partnership

New York, The Gulf Observer: Turkmenistan and Pakistan have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation across political, economic, infrastructure, and humanitarian sectors during a meeting held on the sidelines of the high-level open debates of the United Nations Security Council.
Turkmenistan’s Foreign Minister, Rashid Meredov, met with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Mohammad Ishaq Dar, on May 28 to review the current state of relations and discuss prospects for further cooperation, as well as key regional and international issues.
During the talks, the Turkmen side expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s consistent support of Turkmenistan’s initiatives at the United Nations and other international platforms. Both sides underscored the importance of continued collaboration in promoting peace, stability, and constructive international engagement.
The ministers emphasized that global and regional security remains a priority area of cooperation, noting that sustained high-level political dialogue has played a crucial role in strengthening ties between the two countries. They highlighted that regular interactions between the leadership of Turkmenistan and Pakistan continue to provide momentum for bilateral relations and the implementation of major regional initiatives.
Particular attention was given to the significant potential for expanding economic and infrastructure cooperation. The two sides reviewed progress on key regional connectivity projects, including the Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan–India (TAPI) Gas Pipeline, electricity transmission initiatives, and the development of fiber-optic communication networks along the Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan corridor.
The ministers also discussed preparations for upcoming bilateral engagements, including the next meeting of the Joint Turkmen-Pakistani Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation. They explored opportunities to organize joint business, cultural, and humanitarian activities aimed at deepening people-to-people contacts and fostering greater cooperation between the two nations.
Both sides stressed that cultural and humanitarian exchanges remain an essential pillar of interstate relations, contributing to mutual understanding and closer ties between the peoples of Turkmenistan and Pakistan.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the two ministers reaffirmed their shared commitment to further advancing the Turkmen-Pakistani partnership and maintaining active political dialogue at all levels in pursuit of common regional and bilateral objectives.
