Uzbekistan and France Deepen Cooperation in Digitalization and IT Development

Samarkand, The Gulf Observer: Cooperation between Uzbekistan and France in the field of digitalization is advancing to a new strategic level, following high-level discussions held on the sidelines of the UN Public Service Forum in Samarkand.
During the forum, Sherzod Shermatov, Minister of Digital Technologies of the Republic of Uzbekistan, held a constructive meeting with Aurélia Bouchez, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of France to Uzbekistan. The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral collaboration in areas such as digital transformation, the application of artificial intelligence technologies, IT outsourcing, and the modernization of public services.
Minister Shermatov provided an overview of Uzbekistan’s ongoing digital reforms, including efforts to develop e-government infrastructure and a robust digital economy. He highlighted the country’s focus on expanding the export of IT services and promoting the international presence of Uzbek IT companies, especially in European markets through opportunities facilitated by the French Embassy.
Both sides emphasized the importance of fostering public-private partnerships and scaling up the delivery of digital public services as key drivers of innovation and socio-economic development.
Ambassador Bouchez shared insights into France’s digital transformation experience and best practices, expressing her country’s readiness to deepen cooperation with Uzbekistan in this sector. She acknowledged the growing potential of Uzbekistan’s IT sector and its increasing global engagement.
The parties reached a mutual agreement to enhance collaboration in key areas such as cybersecurity, digital governance, the export of IT services, and the implementation of joint digital projects. The discussions marked a significant step forward in bilateral digital ties and laid the groundwork for future innovation-driven partnerships.
