Uzbekistan and Georgia Strengthen Bilateral Ties in Trade, Investment, and Tourism

Tashkent, The Gulf Observer: President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a high-level Georgian delegation led by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze during the latter’s official visit to Uzbekistan on March 5.
The Georgian Prime Minister conveyed sincere greetings and best wishes from President of Georgia, Mikheil Kavelashvili, reaffirming the commitment to enhancing Uzbekistan-Georgia relations.
The discussions focused on expanding mutually beneficial cooperation in key sectors, including trade, investment, transport and logistics, tourism, and cultural exchanges. Both sides welcomed the growing high-level engagements at the parliamentary and governmental levels.
In 2024, bilateral trade turnover surged by 50%, reflecting deepening economic ties. Additionally, joint ventures and cargo transportation volume increased, while direct flights between the two capitals facilitated connectivity. Notably, a digital bank established with Georgian investment is now operating in Uzbekistan.
The successful organization of the Uzbek Culture and Cinema Days in Tbilisi last year underscored strong cultural cooperation between the two nations.
The parties highly praised the recent session of the Intergovernmental Commission in Tashkent, recognizing its productive outcomes. Both sides emphasized the need for coordinated efforts to sustain trade momentum, ensure balanced exports and imports, promote industrial cooperation projects, and optimize transport and transit potential.
Special emphasis was placed on digitalization and the development of tourism infrastructure, with both countries agreeing to expand partnerships in these areas.
Both Uzbekistan and Georgia reaffirmed their commitment to close governmental cooperation for the effective implementation of the agreements reached, further strengthening bilateral relations.
