Nice, The Gulf Observer: On the sidelines of the 3rd United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC 3) in Nice, Vietnamese Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính held a high-level meeting on Sunday with King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein of Jordan, with both leaders expressing strong commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors.

During the meeting, PM Chính reaffirmed Việt Nam’s prioritization of multifaceted collaboration with Jordan, recalling his previous engagement with Jordan’s Crown Prince at the 8th Future Investment Initiative Conference in October 2024. He noted that the meeting had laid the groundwork for meaningful measures to enhance diplomatic and economic relations.

PM Chính also extended formal invitations from Party General Secretary Tô Lâm, State President Lương Cường, and National Assembly Chairman Trần Thanh Mẫn, inviting the Jordanian monarch to pay an official visit to Vietnam.

In response, King Abdullah II expressed admiration for Vietnam’s remarkable socio-economic progress and the industrious nature of the Vietnamese people. He welcomed the invitation warmly and praised the growing dynamism of Vietnam on the international stage.

The two leaders reached a consensus on the need to increase high-level exchanges to build stronger political trust. They also discussed the negotiation and signing of cooperation agreements in trade, investment, and other strategic areas.

PM Chính proposed the establishment of bilateral mechanisms, including a political consultation framework between the two foreign ministries, as well as a visa exemption agreement for diplomatic and official passport holders, to ease official exchanges.

He further highlighted Vietnam’s readiness to cooperate with Jordan in agriculture, contribute to food security, and share expertise in digital transformation.

King Abdullah II welcomed these proposals and expressed Jordan’s interest in expanding cooperation in science and technology, human resource development, de-mining efforts, and support for prosthetics manufacturing.

Both sides agreed to instruct their respective ministries to accelerate legal processes in preparation for the King’s forthcoming visit to Việt Nam, aiming to sign a series of key bilateral agreements during the occasion.

Additionally, the two leaders exchanged views on regional and global issues of shared concern, pledging to enhance coordination in multilateral forums. PM Chính urged Jordan to continue supporting the ASEAN and Vietnam’s position on resolving disputes peacefully and ensuring maritime security in the East Sea (South China Sea) in accordance with international law.

This meeting signals a positive trajectory in Vietnam–Jordan relations, with both countries committed to transforming diplomatic goodwill into substantive and strategic cooperation.
