Xi urges efforts to comprehensively promote building of Beautiful China

Beijing, The Gulf Observer: Chinese President Xi Jinping on Tuesday urged efforts to comprehensively promote the building of a Beautiful China, and improve the supervision mechanism for natural monopoly networks.

Xi, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, made the remarks while chairing the third meeting of the Central Commission for Comprehensively Deepening Reform.

The commission approved guidelines on issues including environmental protection and state capital operations.

Stressing building a Beautiful China is an important target of building a modern socialist country in all respects, Xi highlighted the necessity of basically attaining the goal of building a Beautiful China by 2035, preventing and controlling pollution and accelerating the transition to a model of green development.

He also called for enhancing ecosystems’ diversity and stability, ensuring the bottom line of safety, improving the security system and pushing forward the realization of fundamental improvements in ecological environment.

In the meeting, Xi called for better management and efficiency of expenditure and revenue in state capital budgets.

On improving the supervision mechanism for natural monopoly networks, Xi urged actions to strengthen the institutional design, improve the regulatory system, enhance the regulatory capacity, strengthen the control of the state-owned economy over natural monopolies, so as to better meet the needs of building a modernized infrastructure system, and better safeguard national security.

He also demanded expert participation in public decision-making and stressed the importance of targeted, zone-based environmental management.
