UAE Chairs 114th Session of the Arab Economic and Social Council in Cairo

Cairo, The Gulf Observer: The United Arab Emirates presided over the meetings of the 114th session of the Arab Economic and Social Council (AESC), held at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States in Cairo. The ministerial session was chaired by Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, UAE Minister of Economy, and focused on advancing joint Arab cooperation in key economic and social sectors.

During the meeting, discussions centered on strategies to implement executive decisions from previous sessions while considering the evolving regional and international developments that impact the Arab world. The council aimed to promote sustainable growth and enhance the collective development efforts of Arab nations.

In his opening remarks, Bin Touq expressed his gratitude to Yousef Alshamali, Minister of Industry, Trade, and Supply of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, commending his dedicated leadership during Jordan’s presidency of the previous AESC session. He also extended thanks to the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States, led by Secretary General Ahmed Aboul Gheit, for their exceptional organizational efforts in preparing for the current session.

Highlighting the significance of AESC, Abdullah bin Touq emphasized that the Council serves as a crucial platform for coordinating joint Arab efforts to foster economic growth and development. “The meeting of the current session of the Council is an important platform to push development efforts among member states to higher levels, contributing to the growth of joint development activities and achieving Arab economic and social integration,” Bin Touq stated.

The session reinforced the commitment of Arab nations to deepening cooperation in pursuit of long-term economic and social stability across the region.
