UAE Establishes UAE Aid Agency to Enhance Global Humanitarian Efforts
Abu Dhabi, The Gulf Observer: President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has issued Federal Decree No. 27 of 2024, establishing the UAE Aid Agency. Affiliated with the International Humanitarian and Philanthropic Council, the newly-formed agency has been granted independent juridical status and full legal capacity to operate within its mandate.
The UAE Aid Agency is charged with planning, overseeing, executing, and monitoring official government foreign aid programs, focusing on international humanitarian initiatives. Key areas of its work will include disaster relief, early recovery efforts, post-conflict stabilization, development projects, and capacity-building programs.
His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, underscored the legacy and guiding principles of the agency. “The establishment of the UAE Aid Agency represents a continuation of the steadfast humanitarian legacy laid by our Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. This approach reflects the UAE’s dedication to addressing humanitarian challenges and fostering sustainable development globally,” he remarked. Sheikh Mansour emphasized that this initiative aligns with the wise leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, reaffirming the nation’s commitment to noble humanitarian efforts.
In support of the agency’s establishment, H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, highlighted its role in enhancing global humanitarian impact. “The establishment of the UAE Aid Agency reaffirms the UAE’s humanitarian role in providing essential assistance, improving living conditions, and supporting communities and people across all continents,” he said. Sheikh Abdullah noted the UAE’s ongoing efforts to collaborate with international partners, particularly in crisis-affected regions, focusing on areas such as education, healthcare, and infrastructure to foster sustainable development and prosperity.

Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Fallen Heroes’ Affairs and Chairman of the International Humanitarian and Philanthropic Council, highlighted the strategic nature of the agency’s formation. “With the formation of the UAE Aid Agency, we are reaffirming our commitment to addressing global humanitarian challenges and promoting sustainable development in a strategic and coordinated manner,” he stated. Sheikh Theyab emphasized the agency’s role in maximizing the impact of UAE’s foreign aid through humanitarian relief and developmental projects.
The UAE, known as one of the world’s leading donors, has provided more than US$98 billion (AED360 billion) in foreign aid since its founding by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. These contributions have benefitted over one billion people worldwide, reaffirming the UAE’s position as a key player in international humanitarian and development efforts.
