Leyla Aliyeva and President Paul Kagame Discuss Bilateral Cooperation and Cultural Projects in Kigali
Kigali, The Gulf Observer: Leyla Aliyeva, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, met with Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda, during her visit to Kigali. Aliyeva conveyed greetings from Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev to President Kagame, marking a significant moment in the strengthening of bilateral ties.
The meeting focused on enhancing cooperation between Rwanda and the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, which is led by Mehriban Aliyeva, First Vice-President of Azerbaijan. Discussions covered potential projects across various sectors, including education, culture, and international collaborations.
Aliyeva emphasized the importance of expanding bilateral relations, particularly in education and culture. She outlined plans for educational exchange programs and joint initiatives to present Azerbaijani artworks at international events, aiming to further deepen cooperation with African nations.
President Kagame, who had visited Baku in November for the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, expressed his appreciation for Azerbaijan’s hospitality and the well-organized conference. He also reflected on his productive meeting with President Ilham Aliyev during his visit.
The Rwandan leader thanked Leyla Aliyeva for Azerbaijan’s support in cultural and educational initiatives in Rwanda, particularly those facilitated by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. He noted Rwanda’s successful hosting of the General Assembly of the International Automobile Federation (FIA) and expressed hope for the future hosting of Formula 1 events in Rwanda, recognizing Azerbaijan’s extensive experience in organizing prestigious global sporting events.
During the meeting, Aliyeva presented President Kagame with the book “Azerbaijan. Inspired by Nature,” a publication from the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, as a gesture of goodwill and further solidarity between the two nations.
