Vietnam-Belarus Visa-Free Travel Starts January 2025

Hanoi, The Gulf Observer: The visa exemption agreement for ordinary passport holders between Vietnam and Belarus, signed on December 8, 2023, by Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Lê Thị Thu Hằng and her Belarusian counterpart Evgeny Shestakov in Hanoi, is set to come into force on January 30, 2025.
Under this agreement, citizens of both nations holding ordinary passports will be able to travel visa-free for up to 30 days per visit, with a maximum cumulative stay of 90 days within a year.
This initiative reflects the Vietnamese Government’s commitment to fostering reciprocal entry and exit mechanisms and implementing visa exemptions with select partner countries. By simplifying travel procedures, the agreement aims to bring mutual benefits to citizens of both countries.
The signing of this agreement marks a significant milestone in strengthening the traditional and friendly bilateral relations between Vietnam and Belarus. It paves the way for expanded cooperation across multiple sectors and aligns with Vietnam’s broader strategy to enhance international tourism. By encouraging Belarusian tourists to explore Vietnam, the agreement is expected to boost tourism, cultural exchange, and economic ties.
Vietnam and Belarus have a history of cooperation on visa exemptions, beginning with the 1993 agreement for holders of diplomatic and official passports. Since 2015, Belarusian citizens, regardless of passport type, have also enjoyed unilateral visa exemption when visiting Vietnam.
This latest agreement underscores the deepening partnership between the two nations and the shared commitment to fostering closer ties for mutual development.
