Iran Condemns Israeli Strike on Farabi Hospital as ‘War Crime’

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: The Islamic Republic of Iran has strongly condemned an Israeli missile strike on Farabi Hospital in the western border city of Kermanshah, describing the attack as a grave violation of international law and a war crime.

According to Iranian authorities, the hospital was targeted around 9:00 a.m. local time on Monday, June 16. The strike caused extensive damage to several sections of the facility, destroyed vital medical equipment, and left multiple patients injured due to shattered glass and debris.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei denounced the attack in a statement posted on the social media platform X, stating: “Israeli aggressors targeted Farabi Hospital in Kermanshah, west of Iran.” He added, “Attacking hospitals and residential areas, reportedly directed by their Defense Minister, is a grave violation of international law and war crime.”

“History will judge,” Baqaei continued. “Eternal shame awaits the regime’s backers and apologists.”

The Governor-General of Kermanshah Province, Manouchehr Habibi, emphasized the urgency of continuous emergency services and the rapid deployment of medical and relief teams in the wake of the attack.

Bahram Soleimani, another senior provincial official, condemned the targeting of medical infrastructure as “inhumane” and confirmed that patients were immediately relocated to other medical centers to ensure their safety.

Speaking to national media, Iranian government spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani said the strike “once again exposed the brutality and lawlessness of the Israeli regime.”

Iran’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Sa’eed Iravani, also issued a strong statement, accusing Israel of deliberately targeting essential civilian and economic infrastructure. “Water storage, fuel depots, and petrochemical facilities—including the Asaluyeh refinery in Bushehr—were hit. Hospitals were also struck. These are not accidents. These are war crimes,” Iravani said.

The hospital strike comes as part of a broader wave of Israeli attacks that began overnight on June 13, targeting Iranian territory in what Tehran has described as an unprovoked act of aggression. Several high-ranking Iranian military officials were reportedly killed in precision strikes, and civilian casualties have been confirmed in residential areas.

In response, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei appointed new military commanders and vowed retaliation. Iran subsequently launched a series of punitive strikes deep into Israeli-occupied territories, including Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, and Haifa, using ballistic missiles and drones. Iranian officials say the operation will continue until all objectives are achieved.

As of June 17, much of daily life in the occupied territories has been paralyzed, with millions of Israelis reportedly taking refuge in underground bomb shelters.

Iran has pledged to hold the Israeli regime accountable on international platforms and is calling for global condemnation of what it describes as a systematic campaign of war crimes targeting civilians and non-military infrastructure.
