Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: President Prabowo Subianto led the official commemoration of the 79th anniversary of the Indonesian National Police, known as Bhayangkara Day, during a ceremonial event held at the National Monument (Monas) Square on Tuesday, July 1.

Accompanied by Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, President Prabowo arrived at Monas at 7:56 a.m. local time, wearing a formal suit and the traditional kopiah cap. He was received with full honors by National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo and Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces General Agus Subiyanto.

The ceremony commenced with the national anthem “Indonesia Raya,” followed by a formal inspection of the assembled troops by the President, who rode in an open-top military vehicle. The troop parade featured various units of the police force, officers in traditional costumes representing Indonesia’s diverse cultural heritage, personnel from affiliated organizations, and members of public security forces.

Adding to the spectacle, paramilitary units from community organizations such as Nahdlatul Ulama’s Multipurpose Ansor Front (Banser), Muhammadiyah’s Young Forces Alert Command (KOKAM), and the Islamic Union’s (PERSIS) security wings also took part in the parade. One of the key highlights was a display of at least 25 robotic technologies—including humanoid robots, dog-shaped and tank-shaped machines, and agricultural drones—showcasing the police’s ongoing digital transformation.

“These robots reflect the modernization of the Indonesian Police,” said Inspector General Sandi Nugroho, Chief of the Police’s Public Relations Division, during a broadcast of the ceremony on the National Police’s official YouTube channel.

The event was attended by a distinguished list of guests of honor, including Speaker of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) Ahmad Muzani, Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR) Puan Maharani, and Deputy Speaker Sufmi Dasco Ahmad.

Former President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, former Vice Presidents Try Sutrisno, Jusuf Kalla, and Ma’ruf Amin, along with Sinta Nuriyah, the widow of former President Abdurrahman Wahid, were also present at the event.

Other prominent attendees included military chiefs of staff, Attorney General ST Burhanuddin, Head of the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) M. Herindra, and several cabinet ministers, including Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.

The ceremony highlighted the Indonesian Police’s dedication to modernization, public service, and national unity, aligning with the vision of a more resilient and technologically advanced force to meet contemporary challenges.
