France Deploys 65,000 Security Personnel for National Day Celebrations to Prevent Unrest

Paris, The Gulf Observer: French authorities have announced the deployment of an extensive security force across the country to ensure the safety of National Day celebrations on July 13 and 14, amid concerns over potential violence and unauthorized gatherings.
During a field visit to the city of Laval, French Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau stated that up to 65,000 police officers and gendarmes will be mobilized nationwide. The security operation will place particular emphasis on Paris, where iconic venues like the Champs-Élysées are expected to attract large crowds. Retailleau emphasized that unauthorized gatherings on the Champs-Élysées will be strictly prohibited, as part of efforts to maintain public order.
In advance of the festivities, French security forces conducted more than 560 inspections across the Grand Paris region, leading to the confiscation of nearly 10,000 fireworks and pyrotechnic items. The seizures aim to prevent the random use of such devices, which have been known to incite tensions during past celebrations.
The National Day, or Bastille Day, marks the anniversary of the storming of the Bastille prison in 1789 and is traditionally celebrated with parades, fireworks, and public gatherings. Authorities have stressed that while the nation is welcome to celebrate, all activities must be conducted safely and within the framework of the law.
