Burgas to Launch Scenic Cable Car from Sea Garden to Beach This Summer

Burgas

Burgas, The Gulf Observer: A new and exciting tourist attraction is set to debut in Burgas this summer—a cable car that will transport visitors from the heart of the Sea Garden down to the city’s beach. Aimed at enhancing Burgas’ image as a modern and dynamic coastal destination, the project was unveiled during a municipal council session held on Tuesday.

The cable car is expected to provide a unique blend of recreation and scenic beauty, offering passengers breathtaking views of the lush Sea Garden and the shoreline below. Scheduled to operate during the peak summer months, the attraction promises to enrich the leisure experience for both tourists and locals.

The designated route begins at Bogoridi Street, where a 27-square-meter area (marked as position E52 in city zoning) has been set aside for the cable car’s initial station. From there, the line will glide above the green canopy of the Sea Garden, ending at a landing point directly on the beach, mere steps from the sea.

The project, described by local councilors as a fresh addition to Burgas’ recreational landscape, is expected to draw interest on par with the city’s most visited tourist destination, the island of St. Anastasia. The success of a similar installation along the Northern Black Sea coast has further reinforced expectations for the Burgas venture.

A public tender will soon be launched to select the company responsible for constructing and operating the cable car. The ten-year lease will be awarded via a secret-bid auction. Bidders must present safety certificates, demonstrate compliance with European standards, and submit proposals that ensure the preservation of local infrastructure and landscape. Upon expiration of the lease, the company will be obligated to restore the area to its original state.

The conceptual design has been developed by local firm “Kaizen 55” OOD, which confirmed that the plan meets all safety and technical requirements. The cable car is slated to be operational during the height of the summer season, aligning with the city’s busy beach tourism calendar.
