Bucharest Marks 566th Anniversary Since First Historical Mention

Bucharest, The Gulf Observer: Romania’s capital city, Bucharest, celebrated its 566th anniversary on 20 September, commemorating its first historical mention in 1459.
The city’s earliest recorded reference appears in a decree issued by Vlad Țepeș (Vlad the Impaler) on 20 September 1459, widely regarded as Bucharest’s official “birth certificate.” Subsequent chronicles from the 15th and 16th centuries noted that the fortress of Bucharest served as a center of justice and authority, underscoring its role from the outset as a place of governance and law.
