Turkmenbashi, The Gulf Observer: The Awaza branch of the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Guardianship was officially inaugurated on December 9 in Turkmenbashi, marking another significant step in the country’s efforts to support vulnerable children.

The ceremony was attended by Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva and Vice-President for Medical Activities of the Charitable Foundation, Oguljahan Atabayeva.

In her remarks, Atabayeva highlighted the extensive humanitarian work undertaken by the Foundation since its establishment on the initiative of Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. She noted that the organization has enabled broad public participation in charitable activities, facilitated hundreds of complex medical operations, and equipped several medical institutions with advanced technology.

Atabayeva stressed that safeguarding the well-being of children remains a key priority of Turkmenistan’s state policy. She added that the new branch will not only provide high-quality medical care but also serve as a center for children’s recreation and rehabilitation. She reaffirmed the Foundation’s commitment to supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals aimed at improving the lives of children globally.

Established in 2021, the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation aims to create favorable living conditions for children, support their development, and provide assistance to those requiring medical care. Over the years, the Foundation has implemented numerous charitable and humanitarian initiatives both within Turkmenistan and abroad.

Its internationally oriented activities — grounded in humanitarian, just, and benevolent principles — include cooperation with UNICEF to deliver aid to children affected by natural disasters and emergencies in Türkiye, Ukraine, Russia, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, and Palestine.
