Vietnamese Leader Extends Christmas Greetings to Hanoi Archdiocese and Catholic Solidarity Committee

Christmas

Hanoi, The Gulf Observer: Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee, Bùi Thị Minh Hoài, on Friday paid visits to the Archdiocese of Hanoi and the Committee for Solidarity of Vietnamese Catholics (CSVC) to extend Christmas greetings.

During her visit to the Archdiocese of Hanoi, Hoài, on behalf of Party and State leaders and the VFF, conveyed warm Christmas wishes to the Archbishop of Hanoi and Vice President of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Việt Nam, Vũ Văn Thiện, as well as to priests, dignitaries and Catholic followers in the capital. She wished them a merry and joyful Christmas.

She noted that despite global uncertainties and domestic challenges in 2025, Việt Nam, under the leadership of the Party and through the unity of the entire people—including religious communities—had maintained economic growth among the highest in the world.

Hoài appreciated the Archdiocese’s efforts in mobilising Catholics to comply with Party guidelines and State policies, actively participate in patriotic emulation movements, and contribute to new-style rural development, civilised urban construction and environmental protection.

Looking ahead to 2026, which will witness major political events such as the 14th National Party Congress and the elections of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels, she expressed her hope that Archbishop Thiện and priests would continue encouraging parishioners to actively and lawfully participate in the elections.

Later, visiting the Committee for Solidarity of Vietnamese Catholics, Hoài extended warm Christmas greetings to Priest Trần Xuân Mạnh, President of the committee, and its leadership.

Emphasising Christmas as a sacred festival symbolising love, hope and peace, she expressed her hope that the committee would continue serving as a bridge between the Party, the State and the Church, uniting Catholics nationwide to “live the Gospel within the nation” and accompany the country’s development.

She also acknowledged the committee’s contributions to patriotic movements, socio-economic development, care for the poor and vulnerable, environmental protection, climate change response, humanitarian work and the strengthening of national great unity.

The VFF leader expressed confidence that under the leadership of Priest Trần Xuân Mạnh, the committee would remain an active member of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, encouraging Catholics to lead “a good life and a good religion” and make practical contributions to national construction and defence in the new stage of development.
