President Prabowo, King Charles III Hold Talks with Philanthropists on Conservation in London

London

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: President Prabowo Subianto and King Charles III on Wednesday held discussions with a number of philanthropic groups and conservation activists at Lancaster House in London, focusing on environmental preservation and wildlife conservation.

The meeting took place in a warm and informal atmosphere, reflecting Britain’s long-standing tradition of tea drinking, which holds a special place in the country’s cultural heritage and is upheld across generations, including within the British royal family.

Upon entering the meeting area, King Charles paused at a table where tea was served to participants, pouring milk into his own teacup before carrying it into the main hall. President Prabowo similarly took his teacup as he entered the Main Hall of Lancaster House. Both leaders, holding cups of tea, greeted philanthropists and environmental activists attending the event.

During the gathering, President Prabowo and King Charles exchanged views with several philanthropists and Indonesian officials. Accompanying the President were Special Envoy for Climate and Energy Hashim Djojohadikusumo; Minister of Environment Hanif F. Nurofiq; Minister of Forestry Raja Juli Antoni; Deputy Chairman of Commission I of the House of Representatives (DPR) Budisatrio Djiwandono; Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya; and the President’s son, Ragowo Hediprasetyo Djojohadikusumo.

The meeting room featured displays highlighting conservation initiatives, including efforts to protect elephant habitats, as well as materials from economic alliances dedicated to environmental preservation. The discussion at Lancaster House lasted approximately 45 minutes.

Following the event, King Charles departed Lancaster House on foot for his residence at St James’s Palace, undeterred by light rain in London. President Prabowo followed shortly afterwards, walking to St James’s Palace while holding an umbrella, accompanied by Teddy Indra Wijaya, Hashim Djojohadikusumo, and Ragowo Hediprasetyo.

At St James’s Palace, President Prabowo and King Charles continued their discussions in a closed-door meeting, addressing a range of environmental issues, including elephant conservation. King Charles currently serves as patron of the World Wildlife Fund (WWF)-UK.

After concluding the meeting at St James’s Palace, President Prabowo was scheduled to proceed to the airport to depart for Davos, Switzerland, to attend the World Economic Forum.
