President Prabowo Stresses Ethical Leadership, Calls for Unity at National Coordination Meeting

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: President Prabowo Subianto on Monday underscored the importance of ethical leadership grounded in honesty, fairness, and service to the public interest, saying these values are what Indonesians expect from their leaders.
The president made the remarks while opening the 2026 National Coordination Meeting of Central and Regional Governments in Bogor, West Java. He emphasized that government officials at both the central and regional levels must fully understand their ethical responsibilities as leaders of the people.
Prabowo said citizens fundamentally aspire to a calm, just, and harmonious life, and therefore place their hopes in leaders who prioritize the broader national interest over personal or group agendas.
“They do not like leaders who only advance their own personal interests. This is the hope of all our people,” he said.
Describing the meeting as a vital forum, Prabowo noted that it brought together nearly all elements of government, from central authorities to regional administrations, to strengthen coordination and foster a shared sense of responsibility.
“This is a good opportunity for me to meet face to face with almost 99 percent of the administration of the Republic of Indonesia, from the central to the regional levels,” he added.
The president also addressed skepticism voiced by some parties abroad regarding Indonesia’s ability to maintain unity amid its ethnic, religious, and cultural diversity. He asserted that Indonesia has proven diversity can be managed ethically and cohesively within the framework of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia in pursuit of common national goals.
According to Prabowo, strong ethical leadership remains key to safeguarding national unity and ensuring sustainable governance across the archipelago.
