Turkmenistan Hosts Second Regional Training for Young Diplomats of Central Asia
Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: The Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan hosted the opening ceremony of the Second Regional Training for Young Diplomats and Civil Servants from Central Asian countries on March 9, 2026.
The event was organized by the Government of Turkmenistan with the support of the Office of the UN Resident Coordinator, as well as the embassies of the Italian Republic and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in Turkmenistan.
The ceremony was attended by senior officials and representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, heads and staff of diplomatic missions and international organizations accredited in the country, young diplomats and civil servants from Central Asian states, as well as faculty members and students of the Institute of International Relations.
Participants highlighted that the training program aims to strengthen cooperation among young diplomats and public officials from Central Asia, facilitate the exchange of experience and knowledge, and consolidate diplomatic efforts to address pressing regional issues.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Myahri Byashimova emphasized that Turkmenistan actively participates in multilateral initiatives of the United Nations aimed at promoting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), expanding humanitarian cooperation, developing transport connectivity, and strengthening the international legal order.
She noted that the current training serves as an important educational platform where participants will deepen their understanding of the institutional structure of the United Nations and the mechanisms of global decision-making.
Byashimova also stressed that one of the key objectives of the training is to further strengthen regional cooperation among Central Asian states, which has gained strong momentum in recent years.
Special attention during the ceremony was given to the Central Asian Youth Dialogue, an initiative launched by Turkmenistan that has already demonstrated its effectiveness. It was noted that another meeting under this dialogue framework will be held on the sidelines of the current training, further strengthening friendship and partnership among young leaders of the region.
