Morocco, Oman Strengthen Security Cooperation with Focus on Counterterrorism and Organized Crime

Morocco

Rabat, The Gulf Observer: Abdellatif Hammouchi, head of Morocco’s General Directorate of National Security and Territorial Surveillance (DGSN-DGST), held talks with Khalid bin Salem bin Ahmed Bamakhalif, Ambassador of Oman to Morocco, to advance bilateral cooperation in key security areas, including counterterrorism and combating transnational organized crime.

According to an official statement, the meeting served as a platform to review existing security cooperation and explore avenues for its expansion. Both sides emphasized the importance of enhancing the exchange of security information, expertise, and best practices to effectively address emerging regional and global threats.

Discussions also focused on the evolving security situation at both regional and international levels, as well as its implications for global stability. The two parties reaffirmed their shared commitment to strengthening coordinated responses to security challenges and deepening institutional collaboration.

The engagement reflects broader efforts by Morocco and Oman to reinforce their partnership across multiple security domains, underscoring a mutual determination to enhance cooperation in safeguarding peace and stability.

In parallel, Hammouchi held separate meetings this week with senior international officials, including Gregory Coleman, Inspector General of Police of Liberia, where discussions centered on Morocco’s expertise in counterterrorism and dismantling organized crime networks. He also met with Yuyu Sutisna, Ambassador of Indonesia, to review bilateral coordination and the implementation of existing agreements.

Morocco continues to be recognized internationally as a reliable partner in promoting global peace and security, particularly due to its extensive experience in counterterrorism. During the 93rd General Assembly of Interpol held in Marrakech last year, Hammouchi reaffirmed the Kingdom’s commitment to strengthening multilateral security cooperation and contributing actively to global efforts against transnational organized crime.
